Silt Fence Supply & Installation
Standard Silt Fencing
Silt Fencing is designed to intercept and retain sediment as it travels across exposed soils while allowing drainage. Generally silt fences are constructed using a geotextile which is entrenched into the ground.
Soilstay uses a trenchless system when installing silt fencing where no trenching or back filling is required. We also utilise pneumatic installation equipment.

Heavy Duty Silt Fencing
Heavy Duty Silt Fencing has been strengthened by star pickets and fencing wire.
Star posts are driven into the ground and a safety cap placed on each, a wire strand is run through the posts and then the silt fence is attached to the posts with clips.
A durable option with added strength to increase its longevity from 12 months to 2 years. Recommended for long term projects and critical or highly erodible sites.
We can also combine safety barrier fencing on the same star posts as the heavy duty silt fencing if required.
Applications:
Construction sites
Floodways
Spill ways
Drains
Soil stock piles
Features/Benefits:
- UV stabilised for all types of outdoor conditions and applications
- Different sizes and grades are available for all applications
- Meets Australian Standards
- Stake with Hardwood Stakes or Steel Fence Posts

Safety Barrier Fencing
- Perfect for the creation of exclusion zones on construction sites
- We offer a choice of Light or Rigid barrier mesh
- Light barrier mesh is a high visibility woven barrier fence suitable for medium term applications
- Rigid barrier mesh is a high visibility extruded barrier mesh suitable for long term use. Durable and re-usable
- Meets Australian Standards
- Fill with sand, gravel, or a specialised filter material
- Made from durable non-woven polypropylene which gives our filter tubes exceptional filtration properties
- Premium Green (made from durable silt fence material)

- A large hessian roll of 100% biodegradable coir made from organic coconut fibre
- Can be fixed in swale for sediment retention, and around wetlands and stream banks for wave mitigation
- Provides protection until natural vegetation is established
- You can also stack them on top of each other to form a barrier. This is used in areas with wave movement and tidal changes
- 100% Biodegradable
- Last up to three to five years

- Mesh is an economical form of erosion control suitable for large projects
- 100% biodegradable organic product made from Jute (hessian)
- Can be fastened with a "U" shaped pin
- Weed Control: The thick natural material stops sunlight from promoting weed growth.
- Water Retention: The matting increases water retention which aids the establishment of long term vegetation. It also reduces watering costs
- Erosion Control: Installing jute matting will suppress weed growth, retain moisture and protect the top soil from eroding
- Fine Jute Matting has no scrim and is used as a lighter alternative
- Heavy Jute Matting is used for sand dunes and requires 300mm pins on soft and steep ground
- Can be fastened with a "U" shaped pin
- Promotes growth of new plants
- Reduces soil erosion
- Retains moisture
- Can be fastened with a "u" shaped pin
- 100% Biodegradable
- Lasts up to five years with optimum seasonal conditions

- Sandbags with tie string attached
- Used for a multitude of purposes in civil and construction works
- Temporary retaining walls
- Flood protection
- Severe weather events
- Stabilise road signs

- Enhances the longevity of hay bales
- Increases the amount of sediment trapped and filtered by the bale
- Includes webbing handles to pin the structure in place
- Made from UV stabilised non-woven polypropylene
- They are NOT filled

Safety Barrier Mesh
A durable barrier fencing mesh, ideal for cordoning off areas on construction sites, road works and at sporting events. Manufactured in different weights and grades to suit applications.
Features/Benefits:
All SoilStay safety barrier fences are installed using star posts, fencing wire, safety caps and clips.

Silt Socks/Geotextile Logs
SoilStay can supply and install silt socks in varying sizes. The socks are usually made with a geotextile and filled with sand, rock or gravel to allow water to pass through it whilst capturing the majority of silt and sediment.
They are generally used to filter sediment as it travels down stormwater gutters and drains.
Features/Benefits:
Coir Fibre Logs
An environmentally friendly alternative to hay bales and expensive Rip Raps or cement stabilisation techniques, Coir Fibre Logs are ideal for constructing check structures, managing changes in stream flow velocity, shaping channels and stabilising shorelines. A natural planting medium for vegetation and made from 100% coir (coconut) fibre, Coir Fibre Logs are a totally biodegradable material that last up to four years. They are easily installed and will blend naturally into the environment over time.
Applications:
River banks
Swale drains
Sand dunes and steep batters
Building sites
Wetland erosion
Features/Benefits:
Erosion Control Blankets/Matting
Erosion Control Blankets provide a protective barrier to disturbed soil until vegetation takes hold. They also provide temporary erosion protection by protecting against water and wind erosion, whilst promoting vegetation growth. SoilStay offers a wide variety of erosion control blanket and mat products to suit your particular needs.
Jute Soil Saver Mesh
An organic loose woven jute mesh used for erosion control, to hold seeds intact, and prevent soil erosion.
Applications:
Grass establishment
Retaining mulch
Soil stabilisation
Natural revegetation sites
Mine Sites
Sand hills
Coastal areas with high winds
Wetlands and riparian slopes
Features/Benefits:
Jute Matting

An organic geotextile which aids in weed and erosion control. An environmentally friendly way of protecting young trees and shrubs by reducing competing weeds and the need to use damaging herbicide.
Because the Jute Matting allows both air and water to pass unimpeded through its construction, the soil beneath it can breathe, promoting growth of desired plants while reducing evaporation and minimising watering needs.
Jute Matting is the simplest, safest, and most cost effective method of promoting new growth on the worst affected slopes because it enhances water filtration whilst protecting precious topsoils.
Applications:
Slopes
Garden beds
Landscaping or roadsides
Revegetating gardens
Coastal areas with high winds
Wetlands and riparian slopes
Features/Benefits:
Coir Matting
A 100% biodegradable natural coconut fibre product with an open weave. It is spun and woven for extra strength and will last longer than equivalent jute matting products.
When used with vegetation it is mechanically strong enough to hold slopes together even after heavy rain. Also promotes the growth of new plants and stops the topsoil from drying out and damaging new growth.
Coir matting resists temperature and wind extremes while retaining humidity and reducing soil erosion.
Applications:
Landscaping or roadsides
Slopes
Roadside
Natural regeneration sites
Mining
Coastal areas with high winds
Wetlands and riparian slopes
Features/Benefits:
Sandbags
Available in both hessian and poly.
Features/Benefits:
Hay Bale Bags
We can supply hay bale bags to fit one or two bales. The bags increase the life of straw bales by reducing degradation and increases the amount of sediment trapped and filtered by the bale. They are made from UV stabilised non-woven polypropylene.
We can also supply and install the bales if required. These are used to form a small temporary dam, and are only suitable for low flows of water to reduce water velocity.
